Tommy Tuberville supports Kalen DeBoer after tough defeat: ‘Players are responsible for winning and losing games’

The Alabama Crimson Tide faced a staggering defeat against the Florida State Seminoles at the start of their regular season, capturing widespread attention and sparking various opinions regarding Coach Kalen DeBoer and his team as they begin year two.

Alabama was outmatched and humiliated on the field, and the situation only worsened as the game went on.

Reactions have varied greatly—from messages of resilience to criticisms of DeBoer’s coaching. Many observers have pointed to the evolving landscape of college football as a potential reason for the shift in players’ mentalities.

US Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) recently shared his thoughts on this trend during an appearance on “Alabama Morning News with JT.”

“Coaches are investing quite a bit,” Tuberville noted. “But it seems the players are also investing a lot nowadays. It’s not solely on the coaching staff anymore when it comes to losing a game. Did they allocate their resources wisely? Ultimately, it’s the players who win or lose the game.”

After touching on NIL regulations and their impacts, Tuberville shifted the focus back to DeBoer and his squad specifically.

“This kind of loss is tough,” Tuberville remarked. “You have to regroup. They’ll be back this week, working to improve. Anyone who steps into Alabama knows the stakes are high, and winning is crucial for coaches.”

He expressed confidence in DeBoer, believing that with time, he can steer the program back on course.
