Podcast host Jennifer Welch was furious on Tuesday’s episode of her show when former Obama Chief Rahm Emmanuel downplayed the importance of transgender issues.
Emmanuel, who is seriously considering the president’s bid in 2028, said, “I had itand criticised Democrats for focusing on the “bathroom” issue at the expense of the “kitchen table” and “family room” issues. “It confuses me. It confuses me. It confuses me because we live in this red state. “When we see a politician who is supposed to be a Democratic leader, we’re not going to bully their stories when Republicans buy us in a story that defines us instead of saying, ‘You’re a weirdo obsessed with it.’
“I have to live in a state where female rape victims are unable to get an abortion due to this bullshit! And I’m going to fight to the bitter end,” she added. “And I’m not going to let some Magalons define progressive values. And I think that’s a really dangerous precedent. Mr. Emmanuel, sorry, but I just have to push back. And I’m not a coastal elite liberal.”
Emmanuel replied that she had the option to move to another state.
“I’ll tell you this. In my opinion, there’s a set of issues, and these are tangential aspects,” he added. “They are not the core, not the core of what we believe in.”
