of town of prescott valley has hired Heather M. Ruder as its new Public Works Director.
Most recently, a native of Largo, Florida, a city of 85,000, Mr. Ruder served as the local government’s deputy director of public works from 2021 to present. She was previously the Deputy Director of Essential Services for the Northwest Fire District in Southern Arizona and Mayor of Clifton, Arizona.
He has also served as Assistant Operations Manager for Pima County, Arizona, Interim Director of Public Works for Eloy, Arizona, and Director of Public Works for Algona, Iowa.
She has 13 years of city/county leadership experience, including responsibility for all stages of government operations and services, and extensive experience in budgeting, financial management and control, community and economic development, and institutional development. have experience
Mr. Ruder holds a Master of Management degree with an emphasis on public management from Northern Arizona University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Arizona.
Her affiliations include the American Society of Civil Engineers, Women’s Transportation Seminar (1st Term Treasurer) Southern Arizona ITE, American Public Works Association (APWA), Iowa Chapter of APWA, Northern Iowa Council of Governments (NIACOG) City Representative, Central Arizona State Government (GAG) β TTAC City Representatives Member of the International City/County Administration Association and American Public Works Association (APWA).
Ruder and her husband have four sons who live in Tucson, and the couple want to move back to Arizona to be closer to their families. Ruders plans to settle in Prescott Valley with her three dogs.
“I want to use my years of experience to help create amazing places that people want to live in and come to,” Rueder said. I look forward to taking over.β
She’s also excited to work with the town. βIt seems like a very strong team with a fun atmosphere. It really drew me in,β she said. “I am humbled by this opportunity.”
Ruder is scheduled to board Town on April 17th.
