Gilbert, Arizona (3TV/CBS 5) – Storms in the East Valley have left debris in the yards of many homes and uprooted trees. Severe weather hit around 9pm, bringing heavy rain and wind to areas such as Gilbert and Mesa.
According to Gilbert Police, calls for services regarding fallen trees, power lines and road debris were spread across much of North Gilbert (between Williams Field and Baseline Road).
Valley residents submitted various pictures of the community damage to Arizona families. See them in the gallery below.
Mesa residents have also seen severe storm damage, including giant trees over 30 years old. One woman said she hadn’t seen weather like this since she moved to the area in 2011. “My house is around the corner here,” she said. “The trees on the HOA side have not been cut down yet, so I was afraid it would hit my house.
So far, there have been no reports of serious injuries from last night’s storm. On Wednesday night, part of the US 60 in the East Valley near Val Vista Drive flooded, making it impossible to pass through the area. Roads reopened shortly after midnight on Thursday.
