Berkeley, Calif. – Azuoras Tuberis had 23 points, 14 rebounds and four stolen bases on Thursday night as he led No. 4 Arizona to an 85-62 victory over California.
Tubulis, the conference Player of the Week, recorded his 11th double-double of the season leading the Pac-12. He also leads the conference in scoring and rebounding.
Arizona coach Tommy Lloyd said, “There’s no secret. Zoo is one of the best players in the country. He’s having a top-team All-American type year.”
Pele Larson added 16 points as the Wildcats (22-3, 11-3 Pac-12) beat Cal for their 7th straight win and 13th straight win. Umarvaro scored 14 points and he had 9 rebounds, while Cedric Henderson Jr. chipped on his 11 and 8 boards.
“I thought Pele and Sed played with tremendous energy and really impacted the game in many areas,” said Lloyd.
Henderson added: That’s our goal. So, never be mean to anyone. ”
Sam Arajiki scored 12 points to lead the Bears (3-21, 2-11) as they lost eight straight. Lars Timann scored his 10th and he added eight rebounds.
Arizona started the game on an 18-3 run and built a 44-32 lead at the half. The Wildcats rebounded the Cal 46-30, including a 15-5 on offensive grass, and led 27-3 in second-chance points.
“We always want to get off to a good start,” said Lloyd. With good effort and good energy early on. ”
After missing their first seven field goal attempts, the Bears were able to break the 50-point barrier for the first time in five games.

California: The Bears lost their 21st game of the season, just four losses to set a school record. Cal’s three wins this year are the fewest in the country. …former Cal coach Lou Campanelli held a minute’s silence before the game. Campanelli died on January 31 at the age of 84. He coached the Bears from his 1985 to 1993 and in 1990 he led the team to the NCAA Tournament.
