Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) opposes additional funding to aid Ukraine, emphasizing that he believes the United States is partially responsible for the war happening in the first place. There is.
Tuberville appeared at the 2024 Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Washington, D.C., and spoke about the ongoing war.
“We are the ones who forced this war,” Tuberville said. “We keep pushing NATO against Ukraine and we keep showing Russia, 'Hey, we're going to build military bases on your border,' and Putin says, 'No, that's not going to happen.'” I won't do that. ”

The senator then said that additional funding would not improve the situation because Ukraine cannot win the war.
“A lot of people who are in the Republican Party with me right now voted for $60 billion,” he continued. “I never voted to give money to Ukraine because I know they can't win. I hate that they killed 300,000 or 400,000 people, and the Russians Like, you hate us for supporting this. We're pushing them in front of the guns, in front of the bus. That's what you would say. It's an atrocity, but it's a win. Can not”

Tuberville also called for diplomacy to end the war and said he believed President Donald Trump could reach an agreement.
“We need diplomacy,” he insisted. “But there's no one in this White House who can actually negotiate, neither the Secretary of State nor Biden…We have to end it. Donald Trump tried to block it when he first took office. He knows he can't win with Ukraine. We can make a deal with President Putin.”
“Donald Trump will stop it when he first comes to power. He knows he can't win against Ukraine. He will be able to cut a deal with President Putin.”

He also called Biden's foreign policy a disaster.
“And we have the Middle East. And on the other side we have our greatest enemy, China. This is all a mess caused by Joe Biden and his missteps in foreign relations.” He said.
After a video of his comments was posted on social media, Tuberville doubled down and replied: “100%.”
