Senator Tommy Tuberville Addresses Residential Requirements Amid Governor Run
Just a few days after declaring his candidacy for governor, U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville is responding to claims regarding his residency qualifications for the position.
In a brief interview on the Steve & DC Morning Show, Tuberville (R-Auburn) mentioned that he isn’t concerned about liberal criticisms at all.
“We’ve owned land and houses for over 25 years since 1999. I’ve been here,” Tuberville stated. “I wouldn’t pursue this unless I was certain about everything. When I returned home from Cincinnati and Texas Tech, I made sure everything was in order and followed the necessary procedures.”
Tuberville also compared the scrutiny he faces to the treatment of former President Donald Trump, suggesting that Democrats are quick to target Republicans.
“They went after the president relentlessly. I’m much less significant, but they still go after me. They can’t get a hold of me because I stand my ground. I was elected five years ago to represent Alabama in the U.S. Senate,” he added.
“Let them bring it on. They have nothing else to discuss.”
Tuberville conveyed his eagerness to compete, especially against Democratic candidates, stating, “I want them to put someone forward to challenge me. I thrive on that competition.”
The Alabama gubernatorial election in 2026 will encompass funding for both the state’s enforcement and legislative sectors. The primary election is scheduled for May 26, 2026, allowing candidates to begin fundraising exactly a year prior.
