Tuberville highlights NDAA amendments to strengthen Alabama, U.S. military

U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville announced he was able to secure several amendments to the Fiscal Year 2025 National Defense Authorization Act that will benefit the state of Alabama and the entire U.S. military.

The senator issued a statement regarding the changes to the law.

“Alabama has always been my top priority, and I am proud of the funding we were able to secure for our state in this year's NDAA,” said Senator Tuberville. “As Alabama's voice on the Senate Armed Services Committee, I'm proud that the NDAA makes significant investments in Alabama's defense industry, including raising soldier pay by 4.5 percent and advancing the introduction of additional MH-139 aircraft to Alabama military bases.”

Rep. Tuberville (R-Auburn) highlighted the role President Biden has played in weakening U.S. troops and the southern border.

“Under Joe Biden's administration, our military has been infiltrated by woke politics that distracts from the mission. This year's NDAA takes a step in the right direction. I won many conservative wins, including a provision that bans taxpayer money from being used for gender reassignment surgery, cuts funding for Department of Defense DEI programs, and increases funding to secure our border and stop the flow of deadly fentanyl.”

“Now that we're on the brink of multiple wars, it's more important than ever that Biden make significant investments in our military capabilities.”

He also said the U.S. military should be a common issue for U.S. lawmakers.

“While we may have different priorities, I think we can all agree that the United States military should be the most powerful fighting force in the world,” Tuberville said. “My top priorities this year were lethal, deterrent and responsive, and I'm proud that we achieved that.”

The bill will now be debated in the Senate. The Armed Services Committee projects that if the NDAA is passed, the total defense budget would be $923.3 billion.
