Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) is calling on Senate leadership to hold a fair impeachment trial of the current Secretary of Homeland Security (DHS).
The House introduced articles of impeachment against Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas on Tuesday, but some Republicans expect Speaker Schumer to vote at some point on Wednesday to dismiss the impeachment charges summarily, skipping a trial in the House of Representatives.
Taborville discussed the issue on Newsmax on Tuesday.
“Nothing like this has ever happened in the United States Senate or the United States Congress.”

“Nothing like this has ever happened in the United States Senate or Congress,” Tuberville said. “If this article passes, the impeachment trial will proceed.”
The senator said he fully expects his Democratic colleagues to vote to dismiss the charges.

“They're not going to let that happen,” he argued. “They're going to shelve this by a vote of 51-49, move on to the next bill and forget about this.”
Tuberville doesn't think Democrats have their priorities straight.
“You know what bothers me? They talk about Iran, they talk about Ukraine, they talk about all this other money,” he said. “They're not talking about helping the American people at the southern border. This is an absolute disgrace. Chuck Schumer criticizes Israel one day and supports Israel the next. So these people are not consistent or concise when it comes to supporting the American people. This is an absolute disgrace.”
