Two border patrol killings in less than a month | Crime

Tucson (KVOA) — Cochise County has had an incident in less than a month…the most recent one near Sasave.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department and the FBI are investigating an incident near the remote State Route 286 and 20 Mile Post.

Customs and Border Protection officials said News 4 Tucson agents were involved in the use of force after they tracked down a vehicle smuggling people.

The driver was shot dead.

In the February 20 incident, the driver was shot in the leg. It happened in Cochise County.

Art del Cueto, president of local union 2544. He was with agents at both sites.

“It shows how dangerous this job actually is. That’s the result. Clearly both shootings are being investigated and monitored. The agents are highly trained and what they are doing there.” It’s the poison of using weapons, and it goes down to lethal force,” he said.

Agents were trying to arrest a vehicle believed to be involved in smuggling during the shooting in Cochise County, officials said.

The suspect injured his leg and was taken to hospital.

The FBI is currently investigating both cases.
