Two missing 8-year-old boys in northern Arizona have been found safe

FLAGSTA, Ariz. – The two boys who went missing late Wednesday on Thursday are both stationed and safe.

The Coconino County Sheriff’s Office reported eight-year-old Thion Maron went missing late Wednesday night after being separated from his family in a cave on the Lava River near Flagstaff.

According to the CCSO, he was placed late Thursday morning.

The second boy, 8-year-old Canyon Hartley, was reported missing from a campsite near Grand Canyon on Thursday morning.

A few hours later, a National Park Service official said he was there too.

Both boys are reportedly safe.

The situation behind their loss of disappearance was not immediately disclosed.

The Coconino County Sheriff’s Office said more than 100 local volunteers came to help search Maron.

In addition, dozens of Jewish community search and rescue teams jumped out of the East Coast to search.

“We showed up, we came. Chavelim of Rockland volunteer Isaac Crichnik said: “Our volunteers found him. He was sleeping next to a tree. We were doing what we did our best and we were training.”

Chabad, Rabbi Dovi Shapiro of Flagstaff, said he is proud to be filled with support from members of the community.

“When someone is in trouble, you want to do something to be your own child, your own family and you want to be part of it,” Shapiro said. “The family is beyond that. They are so grateful. We are all so grateful to God for being able to celebrate with them.”
