Two American tourists were reportedly found dead in a room at the Rancho Pescadero luxury hotel in El Pescadero, Baja California Sur, Mexico, on Tuesday.
Local police and paramedics arrived at the scene around 9 p.m. and found the two men without signs of life. The bodies have been identified as John Heesco, 41, and Abby Lutz, 22, the agency said. ABC News.
The Baja California Sur State Attorney General’s Office told ABC News that the cause of death was poisoning with an unidentified substance. By the time he was found, he had been dead for about 10 hours. Police said there were no signs of violence on their bodies, the newspaper said.

The local attorney general’s office is leading an ongoing investigation into the death. The cause of death has not yet been identified, but there have been several similar cases of American tourists visiting Mexico dying from gas poisoning. In October 2022, three Americans died of carbon monoxide poisoning at an Airbnb near Mexico City.
