U.S. Senate candidate Kali Lake arrived in Yuma on Thursday to open her campaign office.
Lake's campaign opened a storefront inside the America First Resource Center on Main Street, in the former Yuma Catholic High School thrift store.
Lake, who is facing Pinal County Sheriff Mark Lamb in the July 30 primary, met with about 20 local supporters to urge them to get out the vote. Lake said the economy has become a top issue for Arizona voters, even more so than the border issue.
“Even though the border is really important, the economy is the main issue right now for every age group, every demographic in Arizona,” Lake said. “People are really struggling in this economy. Joe Biden's 'Bidennomics' is not working.”
In Yuma, Lake criticized Biden's disappointing performance in last week's debate and said he appeared to suffer from dementia and was unfit for duty.
Following Monday's Supreme Court ruling on presidential immunity, Lake called the decision “amazing.”
“We need a president, we need people in office who can do their jobs without fear of dying for a 'loafer' like President Trump, and without fear of being prosecuted for performing their official duties,” she said.
Lake said having an office in Yuma will put him closer to voters, who he hopes will be more involved in the campaign. Lake said he plans to take a bus tour of the state soon to rally support.
