An AZ Speaks Free Presentation Organized by AZ Humanities & Friends of LHC Library
Mojave County, Arizona (March 8, 2023) – Hosted by the Lake Havasu City Chapter of the Mojave County Library “The Underground and Overground Railroad” on Tuesday, March 14th at 10:30am in Community Room A/B. Dr. Tamika Saunders will be the presenter. Dr. Sanders holds a PhD in Higher Education, a Master of Business Administration, and a Bachelor of Arts in Communications.
Ingenuity used by those involved with the Underground Railroad to help over 100,000 enslaved people escape to freedom between 1810 and 1850 using storytelling, historical artifacts, and songs. It expresses ingenuity and resilience. Presentation progresses in time Go back to the Jim Crow era and help promote a network of safe spaces that allow Black people to travel, live and work despite illegal and legally recognized discrimination under Jim Crow laws. Dr. Sanders’ work revolves around incorporating diverse real-world perspectives into programming initiatives and creating strategic community partnerships that can generate revenue and provide marginalized groups access to resources and opportunities. Free tickets are now available at the library as seating may be limited. No tickets will be sold on the day of the program. Ticket holder must be seated March 14th at 10:15 am. Saved seats are not allowed. Lost tickets cannot be reissued. This program is free and open to the public.
