Undocumented immigrant found guilty of manslaughter to be released early in California – Barry Moore’s proposal aimed to stop this

US Representative Barry Moore from Enterprise voiced his frustration on Thursday regarding the news that some illegal immigrants would be freed from prison six years ahead of schedule.

In 2022, Oscar Eduardo Ortega Anguiano faced two counts of vehicular manslaughter while under the influence. Reports indicate that Ortega Anguiano will be released by California officials on July 19th, having served only three years of a ten-year sentence.

In light of this early release, the Trump administration has stated its intent to pursue federal charges against these undocumented individuals.

Moore stated, “My parents or spouse shouldn’t have to endure the heartache of losing a loved one. This illegal alien was likely to be deported again and wouldn’t have been allowed back into the country if he attempted to return. Yet, California is letting him go six years early.”

Moore’s legislation, which aims to deport illegal immigrants convicted of DUI offenses, was supported by community members, including individuals like Jeremy, Angel Shee, and Sergeant Brandon Mendoza. This bill passed the Judiciary Committee in February, reflecting a strong intention to address such incidents more decisively.

Lawmakers argue that the bill would curb the release of dangerous criminals onto the streets by states like California.

Moore elaborated, “These are the kinds of situations my bill targets, protecting our community from incidents related to DUIs. We need to ensure that individuals convicted of such crimes are swiftly deported.” He emphasized the urgency of addressing these offenses to safeguard the community.
