PHOENIX — Greenlee County’s unemployment claims rose slightly in April, but Greenlee County’s status as the county with the lowest unemployment rate in the state remains unchanged.
According to data released Thursday by the Arizona Department of Commerce.
Greenlee County unemployment claims rose a tenth of a percentage point in April, up to 2.2%. This puts him 7 out of 10 points ahead of the county with the next lowest unemployment rate, and Greenlee County had the lowest unemployment rate for his 17th straight month.
Meanwhile, Graham County’s unemployment rate fell a tenth of a percentage point to 2.9% in April, tying it with Maricopa County for the second-lowest unemployment rate in the state.
Jobless claims in nearby Cochise County remained flat at 4% in April.
The statewide seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell a tenth of a percentage point to 3.4% in April. This is also two-tenths of a percentage point lower than at the same time last year. The national tax rate he dropped five-tenths of a percentage point to 3.1 percent.
Six economic sectors reported job gains in April. private education and health services (4,300 more jobs); Government (3,500 additional jobs). Professional and Business Services (2,400 additional jobs). Construction industry (1,900 more jobs). And natural resources and mining (100 more jobs).
Reported job losses include: Manufacturing (1,000 jobs lost). Financial activity (1,000 jobs lost). Trade, transport and utilities (900 fewer jobs).
The information jobs sector had no net employment gains or losses in April.
