FLAGSTAFF, Arizona — A man was found dead near Sunset Crater on Friday. Information is limited at this time due to an ongoing investigation by the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office.
According to early reports, CCSO agents were summoned to an area just south of Sunset Crater National Monument due to reports that someone had died.
The Metropolitan Police Department found the person and is currently investigating the cause of death and surrounding circumstances.
The deceased has not been identified, and police have not disclosed whether foul play was suspected at this time.

Authorities are urging the public to contact the CCSO at 928-774-4523 or Silent Witness for information regarding this incident.
