Universal Studios should be ashamed.
The Writers Guild of America (WGA) is entering its 10th week of strike against Hollywood, with its numbers doubling due to SAG-AFTRA membership. But Universal Pictures has planned to cut down trees to keep out writers who only want their fair share of the pie.
According to Chris Stevens, Universal cut down trees on the sidewalk outside its Los Angeles studio on Monday when temperatures topped 90 degrees. Oh, it was, conveniently, the same sidewalk the writers were on strike for.
“A quick thank you to the good people at @UniversalPics for cutting down the trees that provided shade to the picket lines just before the 90+ degree week,” Stevens wrote.

Arguably one of the most boring moves of all time…and for a few cents.
Personally, as a writer, I want my fellow writers to believe that I stand by them, and I hope they get paid accordingly. do you think they can figure it out?
Of course not. Companies are too greedy for such things. And it’s also a shame because I personally know how much effort writing takes. Some people think you’re just sitting in front of your laptop typing, but here I am… no.
Writing is a very demanding job. Well, I enjoy it and am very grateful to be where I am in my career. But given how boring things can be, and how we writers tend to overthink and overanalyze, I know myself that I’m a perfectionist. Literally everything she has to be 100% right. Oh, how exhausted I am by the end of the day. (Related: Toho has released the first trailer for its ‘Godzilla Minus One’ movie, and this trailer is bringing the heat)
It’s really hard work. It’s fun work, but it’s hard work. So it’s only natural that these writers should be paid.
Please take a look.
