The University of Alabama is committed to increasing access to mental health and wellness support for online students. As part of that effort, the university announced a new partnership with Uwill, a popular online therapy platform.

Uwill's proprietary technology allows UA Online students to get an instant appointment with a qualified mental health counselor based on the student's needs and preferences.

Youwill also recently entered into an exclusive partnership with the Online Learning Consortium to help online schools and programs further support the mental health of students everywhere.
Since 2014, the proportion of college students reporting depression has risen from 21 percent to 41 percent, according to national data collected by Times Higher Education. Over the same period, students who reported symptoms of anxiety increased from 20 percent to 36 percent. The data also shows that half of students with mental health issues have never used campus counseling services, and only a few say they know who and where to turn in a crisis.
