US Soccer Issues Statement After Disastrous Exit From Copa América

Oh man, I hope this means Gregg Berhalter gets fired…

For a while now, all we've heard about the United States Men's National Team (USMNT) has been that they're producing a “golden generation” that will be at their peak by the time the US hosts the World Cup in 2026.

Well, there aren't many signs of that happening. This was such an embarrassment for the U.S. Men's National Team, and for coach Gregg Berhalter in particular, that many Americans (including me) called for his firing.

Amid the intense scrutiny, U.S. Soccer sporting director Matt Crocker issued a statement late Monday night after the U.S. was eliminated from the tournament.

“Our performance in the tournament fell short of expectations and we must work harder,” Crocker said in a statement. “We will now take a comprehensive look at our performance in the Copa America and how we can improve our team and results as we look ahead to the 2026 World Cup.”

Please, fire Gregg Berhalter from the USMNT!
