US Struggles To Remove Chinese Hackers From Major Telecom Networks

Chinese government-backed hackers have infiltrated major U.S. communications networks and authorities are now struggling to remove their access, U.S. officials said Tuesday.

Jeff Green, a senior official at the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), pointed out the complexity of the situation: According to On CNN. He explained that it’s difficult to know how serious a security breach is and what to do about it because we don’t have all the information about where and how deep the problem is.

“We don’t yet know how deep it went and where it went, so it’s difficult to know the exact parameters of how it will launch an attack until we have a complete picture,” Green said. spoke.

According to CNN, the FBI official added that most carriers are actively working to uncover the full scope of activities by the People’s Republic of China (PRC). An ongoing investigation has revealed that the hackers targeted communications systems used by top U.S. political figures, including President-elect Donald Trump and Vice President-elect J.D. Vance.

Republican South Dakota Sen. Mike Rounds has previously warned that hackers have infiltrated every major U.S. communications provider and have gained the ability to intercept and monitor Americans’ text messages and phone calls. This intrusion compromises every individual’s private communications and highlights threats to personal and national security.

“Each of us, and all of us today, know that any cell phone conversation you have with someone in the United States is subject to investigation by the Chinese Communist government, because they have access to all of our major telecommunications companies. They’re in. They can read your texts, they can listen to your conversations,” said Rounds. “The only question is whose opinion you want to hear and whose opinion you don’t want to hear.” (Related: Chinese hackers reportedly compromised Trump and Vance’s cell phones)

This espionage activity is also a national security concern for the incoming administration, which must now deal with the fallout from these breaches, CNN reported. Telecommunications giants like Verizon and AT&T are working closely with federal authorities and have had the most success in mitigating the presence of hackers.
