PHOENIX — Strong gusts of wind and patchy rain affected the Valley and surrounding areas on Thursday night, bringing a week of storms across Arizona.
The Phoenix National Weather Service warned that thunderstorms could bring gusts of wind up to 40 miles per hour across the valley, strong enough to uproot tree branches and blow unsafe objects.
A lone storm moved south and southwest on Thursday night following a runoff through Pinal County, bringing showers, according to the NWS.
rain gauge As the storm descended from the highlands, the valley saw an additional 0.04 to 0.20 inches of precipitation Thursday afternoon through early evening.
The NWS said thunderstorms would affect Maricopa and Pinal counties until 8:15 p.m.
However, the rain may not stop in the morning as the chances of strong runoff increase Friday afternoon and evening, according to the NWS.
