verde valley news – The Verde Valley Teen Maze is a community-driven event that enables youth to experience the consequences of their life choices. It’s been 4 years since his last Verde Valley Teen Maze, mostly due to his COVID. The event was held from February 28th to March 2nd from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Clemenceau Building (COCSD Office), 1 N. Willard St. Cottonwood, AZ 86326. Effects of different choices in life. This week-long event of his is coordinated and sponsored by Yavapai County Community Health Services (YCCHS) and Verde Valley Sanctuary (VVS).
Imagine a life-sized board game, and it’s easy to see teens navigating a maze by drawing scenario cards and spinning wheels that educate them on a myriad of topics. This year’s focus topic is fentanyl and marijuana risks. effects of tobacco and vaping; cyber safety; safe dating skills; teenage pregnancy prevention; nutrition, and self-care/coping skills. Each section of the maze is presented through creative games and hands-on activities to provide an experiential learning environment.
“Judging by student ratings, we have received a lot of positive feedback on cyberbullying, unhealthy and healthy relationships, STDs, tobacco and e-cigarettes,” says VVS Resident Services Manager Cassandra Presmyk. .

A number of Mingus High School students from the Interact program moderated half of the booth. Other volunteers came from YCCHS, CYAC, MATForce, and VVS.
Teen Maze was created in 1999 under the leadership of the North Star Youth Partnership (Catholic Charity Community Service Program). Since then, the event has brought together volunteers, community organizations and businesses of all ages with a common goal… educating young people about the consequences of their choices and helping them become better decision makers. to help.
