VICTOR DAVIS HANSON: Indict Walt Nauta? Why Not The Biggest Liars First?

Walt Nauta is a 10-year Navy veteran who served as an aide to former President Donald Trump both inside and outside the president.

Special Counsel Jack Smith has now charged him with “making false statements in an interview with the FBI.” The indictment purports that Mr. Nauta refused to cooperate with the special counsel in trying to convict Mr. Trump and refused to produce state evidence.

But why stop prosecuting a man who was a former U.S. president who served loyally, followed his orders, was a Navy veteran and a hardworking immigrant from Guam?

Isn’t there a much bigger fish to fry to remind Americans that justice is blind?

After all, when Smith announced the indictment of Trump, he was preaching to America about the rule of law and the cherished notion that no one can surpass it.

So let’s start with Andrew McCabe, the former Interim Director of the FBI itself.

McCabe has admitted to lying four times about illegally leaking confidential information to witnesses and mishandling confidential information.

Have those crimes suddenly ceased to be felonies?

Or is it current US government policy that FBI directors can lie, leak and mishandle classified information with impunity?

But while Walt Nauta may be sent to prison, McCabe will continue to make big salaries on CNN as a paid “expert” to mourn… what exactly?

What McCabe knows best from his own experience with this practice is “mishandling classified information”?

Nauta has reportedly been charged with claiming he “didn’t know” what he should have known about the president’s paper move.

His denial was presented in almost the same language that another FBI director, James Comey, used under oath when he obstructed congressional interrogators 245 times.

Has an FBI director ever been indicted before Congress for feigning ignorance or amnesia?

Did Nauta record a personal, presumably classified archive with the President of the United States at the White House and leak it to the New York Times?

That’s exactly what James “Higher Loyalty” Comey boasted of doing.

Just recently, Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm also admitted to lying when she denied owning private equity during a recent oath before Congress.

Was Nauta’s “I don’t know” a greater threat to the rule of law and the security of the Republic than the Energy Secretary’s lie? She deliberately misled Congress about potential conflicts of interest involving stock portfolios.

Then we’re talking about President Joe Biden. He has never spoken about business with his son Hunter Biden, who is now accused of tax fraud and accused of taking advantage of foreign governments by selling Biden’s influence to them. I swore never.

However, many witnesses disagree with Joe Biden’s statement. The photo also shows him standing next to his son’s business associates.

For nearly two decades, senators, vice presidents, private citizens and now President Biden have hidden the fact that classified documents have been illegally taken home and moved in various insecure locations.

Was Biden’s move of classified documents over the past two decades not as bad as Nauta is accused of doing?

Was Biden’s Corvette garage safer than the closets and bathrooms in the gated Mar-a-Lago compound?

Biden’s lawyers came forward for the first time in nearly two decades because of the media hype surrounding the FBI’s raid on Mar-a-Lago for classified documents.

There are laws that allow senators, vice presidents, and presidents to improperly take classified documents, move them to various unsafe locations, and avoid felony prosecutions like the ones Nauta and Trump are currently facing. I wonder?

Let’s end with the greatest exemption of all, the exemption given to Hillary Clinton.

She has committed a variety of possibly serious felonies, including:

First, while she was secretary of state, she illegally transmitted sensitive national security information through her insecure servers.

Second, she destroyed both email records and communication devices kept under a government subpoena.

Third, she lied about both using and destroying the subpoena.

Fourth, she illegally hired a foreigner, Christopher Steele, to work with her campaign as an opposition researcher.

Fifth, she plans to distribute false documents to government intelligence, investigative agencies, and the media with the sole purpose of crushing presidential opponent Trump and thereby distorting the 2016 election process. It was a conspiracy.

and?

Mrs Clinton was immune from all legal peril, along with former CIA directors John Brennan, former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, former FBI directors James Comey and former FBI directors Andrew McCabe who are self-proclaimed liars and imposters. . She, too, continues to monetize her past notoriety and controversy.

What this country needs most is another crammed devout lecture on the rule of law from Special Counsel Smith, Biden and former government officials who admitted to lying.

They should be ashamed, not Walt Nauta.
