VICTOR DAVIS HANSON: Mythologies About Musk

Here are some of the truths told about Elon Musk and Doge:

“Musk has no right to reduce USAID.”

Elon Musk and his team are do not have Reduce federal programs.

They are auditors. They were given legal authority under an executive order that created the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

Washington, DC – February 11: Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk is signing with US President Donald Trump (R), son X Musk, and White House secretary Will Scharf (L), at Oval Office I will speak to Washington, DC at the White House on February 11, 2025. Trump is to sign an executive order implementing the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) “Workforce Optimization Initiative.” This encourages agencies to limit employment and reduce the size of the federal government, according to Trump. Its mission is to identify waste, abuse, fraud, and irrelevant in the federal budget when the US is in debt of $37 trillion.

The agency will expire on July 4th, 2026.

Ultimately, Musk can propose cutting the program, but Trump has the authority to approve or reject them. He may or may not act on all, part, or doge recommendations.

“No one chose a mask.”

Like hundreds of government officials, Musk was appointed by a president elected to run an institution that does not require confirmation from the Senate.

Musk is just as legally legal as a national security adviser or his National Security Council, and no one needs to confirm the Senate. (Related: Victor Davis Hanson: Germany’s new Morgensaw project)

The left believes that former national security adviser Jake Sullivan, who made a decision that is far more crucial than Musk, had no authority to do so, as he was also not confirmed by the Senate. Do you have it?

“Giving so much power to a private citizen billionaire like masks is a dangerous precedent.”

In fact, Musk has far more legal authority than FDR’s best friend, Harry Hopkins. Hopkins moved to the White House and effectively set up a foreign aid policy for Stalin’s Russia.

Musk’s position resembles past industry captains such as Henry Ford, Henry Kaiser and William Nadson, who were appointed to the FDR to run the wartime economy.

None of them were elected or confirmed by the Senate. All of them helped us save our unarmedness after the Pearl Harbor disaster.

“Foreign assistance has ended.”

It doesn’t seem like it will happen.

Foreign aid, which reaches nearly $80 billion per year, across all symptoms in various cabinets and institutions, is do not have ending.

One of its distribution centers, USAID, could be significantly reduced or bundled by the State Department. However, it remains to grant allies to friends like Israel or friends like Egypt, or to help with hunger relief or help with natural disasters to poor overseas. And these programs are then trimmed from skimmers and con artists, so they are precisely enhanced and saved.

“It’s illegal to end USAID.”

USAID was created by then President John F. Kennedy in 1961 by then President John F. Kennedy, by executive order, by Congressional law codified foreign aid and allowed the president to enforce the law at his discretion.

Almost 40 years later, in 1998, Congress passed another law that merged Kennedy’s USAID as a formal agency, but it was still within the administrative body.

But neither law requires Trump to bundle all or most foreign aid with USAID. He thinks he’s worthy of the whole cabinet, so he can spread the money. And he can maintain the funds and programs he has chosen under the aid of USAID, if he wishes.

“Trump cannot escape USAID money that is legislated by Congress.”

That legal issue apparently depends on whose cow is being goed.

Neither Congress nor the courts have approved or maintained President Ryneite’s veto in a comprehensive way, nor have they banned any form of presidential class.

But recently, Joe Biden sets precedents that, both as vice president in 2016 and president in 2021, the administration can most certainly impose or delay Congressional funds.

Notoriously, Biden threatens the government by withholding $1 billion in approved US foreign aid on a trip to Ukraine, unless he immediately fires Biden’s enemy prosecutor Victor Shokin. He publicly boasted that.

The terms were never discussed in Congress’s aid approval (and it was the act of the left wing to fire each Trump in 2020).

In 2021, Biden exaggerated even more, suddenly, halting all construction of the boundary wall forever. He then saved up construction funds approved by Congress through various gimmicks.

Don’t forget that Biden has pledged to cancel his student loan obligations for free, issue blanket loan amnesty and ignore or avoid court bans for his illegal activities, without Congressional approval. .

“China will be pleased with reducing USAID.”

error. China could be upset by Trump cuts.

Beijing is discovering its own concrete development projects that are much more effective than USAID, which imposes the American cultural agenda overseas. Beijing likes self-destructive American aid, including LGBTQ activism, transgender satanism, and anti-conservative American media.

China has created a vast gender research program at Kabul University, or has the US embassy promoted pride activity there, or promoted $40 million to engineer a virus that is deadly in itself. Does anyone believe you’re angry about what you’ve done?

Therefore, China will be very unhappy with organs like the New York Times and the BBC being terminated USAID subsidies. After all, they, along with China, slandered Donald J. Trump, their shared existential nemesis.
