There’s clearly a lot on this man’s plate.
Seattle Mariners right fielder Victor Robles, 28, recently went through some tough times. He was rehabbing and suited up for Tacoma Rainiers, the Mariners’ Triple-A affiliate, during a game against the Las Vegas Aviators. Things took an unexpected turn.
In just three innings, Robles faced off against Aviators pitcher Joey Estes. Instead of taking his base after getting hit by a pitch, he reacted differently—he threw his bat at Estes.
After that incident, Robles was immediately ejected from the game. But that wasn’t the end of it. While in the dugout, he tossed an entire snack box onto the field as he prepared to head back to the locker room.
To be fair to Robles, his frustration might stem from getting hit by three pitches in just a week. Earlier during the game, Estes had hit him twice, adding to his exasperation.
Later that day, Robles took to Instagram to apologize, explaining he was coping with his mother’s recent passing.
“I genuinely regret my reaction on the field,” he wrote. “It’s been tough managing my emotions, and I realize it’s not just about the game; it’s also about respect and effort.”
“Leaving the game for a long rehab wasn’t easy. Plus, my mother’s passing has weighed heavily on me, and I’ve been trying to stay composed through it all.”
Honestly, I think giving him a break is fair. Losing a parent and dealing with constant hits can really take a toll. I wouldn’t handle it perfectly either.
