Fox host Shannon Bream challenged Democratic Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz on Sunday over the state’s abortion laws, saying the state’s abortion laws “go far beyond Roe v. Wade.” pointed out.

Walz cited individual cases like Amanda Zulawski, who claims she was denied a “medically necessary” abortion in Texas after the regulations went into effect, and said the state’s law states that “the decision is a woman’s. and their health care providers.”

The governor quickly claimed that President Trump wants a nationwide abortion ban. But Bream pushed back. “Yes, of course, Sen. Vance has said that in the past. Now, they may see this as an election issue. We believe that women should be allowed to make decisions about their bodies. States like my state have the power to implement it. States like Georgia force women to cross the border and we die if we do. Amber Thurman,” Waltz replied.

“So let me be clear: It’s not the American people’s place to try to gloss over this issue,” Walz said. “They want Roe v. Wade back. Vice President Harris said he would sign it. That’s what we’ll do if we’re elected.”

Bream then cut the Minnesota governor off to make it clear that the state’s law “goes beyond” Roe v. Wade, citing the tragic death of 28-year-old Amber Thurman in Georgia. He also revealed about his death. Bream described Thurman this way: died The cause is complications related to medical abortion, not lack of access to the abortion procedure.

“Her own lawyers and her family’s lawyers argue that the fault lies with the hospital, not with Georgia law, and that it was medical malpractice for not treating her when she was clearly in pain. “And because of this, the byproducts of the pregnancy are still present,” Bream concluded. “So I want to be clear about Georgia law and how her family and her attorney view it.”

The day after Roe v. Wade was overturned, Walz vowed that his state would become a “safe haven” for abortions. He issued an executive order on June 25, 2022, stating that individuals who enter Minnesota from restricted states will not be extradited for processing.
