Santa Cruz County, Calif. (KION-TV) – The former Aptos high school baseball player and hometown Watsonville native has been drafted by the Minnesota Twins.
Infielder Luke Keyshall was drafted 49th overall by the Twins. Keith Schall finished the season with a .353 batting average and a team-leading 18 home runs at Arizona State.
We spoke to Keyshal, who said he had a hunch he’d be picked in the second round of the draft.
He said he was thrilled to join the Twins organization and spoke about what he can offer the organization.
“I go into every game trying to do damage in the box. As a defender, I’m very versatile, I can play where I need to, I can play well wherever I put it, I can play wherever I put it. Offense. As a player, I’m super.” “I can be aggressive and do damage. I’m here to help my team in many ways.”
Keyshall said his favorite players as a kid were Derek Jeter and Mike Trout.
Luke said he only had one offer from Division 1, so it motivated him to get better to show the big league teams what he needed. Now he will have that chance.
The Pajaro Valley Little League celebrated the former player on social media.
