HBO on Thursday released the trailer for “Salem's Lot,” one of the most terrifying stories in modern history.
If you can separate Stephen King's out-and-out progressivist insanity on social media from his novels, and then separate his novels from their film adaptations, we've got something fantastic for you! One of King's most infamous titles is coming to TV just in time for spooky season.
“Salem's Lot” was created by Gary Dauberman, the creator of the “It” series. According to According to Deadline, the novel's plot doesn't seem all that far removed from King's 1975 original book, which follows writer Ben Mears (played by Lewis Pullman) as he returns to his childhood home in the Jerusalem neighborhood.
Mears thinks he's on the hunt for his next book. As corny as it sounds, he soon finds his hometown being overrun by vampires. Yeah, I know that sounds super corny, but trust me, it's a very scary story. (Related article: Child found buried face down with anti-vampire padlock)
Along with Pullman, the cast also includes Alfre Woodard, Mackenzie Lee, Bill Camp, Spencer Treat Clark, Pilou Asbæk and John Benjamin Hickey. I had never heard of any of them before today, but I've seen them all many times. I've never been disappointed!

“Salem's Lot” is King's second novel after the ever-unsettling “Carrie,” and from the trailer alone, it looks like a jump-scare, “yell 'no' at the screen” type of movie. (Related: Cast and creators of 'The Chosen' discuss their incredible journey to becoming one of the biggest shows in the world)
Doberman's other films, “Annabelle” and “The Sister” were good films, although of course they were really scary. I'm not a big fan of horror films, but I'm most excited for King and Doberman's overall storyline. And some creepy moments!
“Salem's Lot” premieres on October 3rd.
