YUMA, Arizona (KYMA, KECY-TV) – Summer-like temperatures here in the southwestern desert, with Yuma, Arizona and El Centro, Calif. hitting 111 degrees Celsius for the first time in 2023.
El Centro, Calif. officially hit 111 degrees on Saturday, July 1 at 1:46 p.m.
Yuma, Arizona officially hit the 111-degree mark shortly after at 3:58 p.m. Saturday, July 1.
KYMA News 11 Meteorological Agency Melissa Zaremba has already selected and announced the winners of the 1 Hour Air Conditioning and Heating 111 Degrees Contest with a $250 prize.
With a total of 1,296 submissions, 64 players guessed the correct date and came very close to guessing the correct time.
However, there was one entry that submitted the guess on the correct date and was closest to the time of submitting the guess at least 8 days before reaching the 111 mark among other entries.
No one guessed the exact date and time, but we will award the closest winner a $250 prize.
The winner is Rubén Leverez, who predicted the closest time on July 1, 2023 at 1:00 PM.
