We Needed This! Fall Out Boy Remakes ‘We Didn’t Start The Fire’ With Modern Day Lyrics And It’s Absolutely Epic

Never thought I’d say this…but thank you, Fall Out Boy.

The iconic rock band (at least it certainly does now) released a remake of Billy Joel’s classic “We Didn’t Start the Fire” on Wednesday. The song contains updated lyrics for the contemporary culture of society from 1989 to the present.

Like Joel, Fall Out Boy also mentions several, among them Elon Musk, Kanye West’s feud with Taylor Swift, QAnon, multiple celebrity deaths, and black lives. is a big deal, which includes a lot of Netflix series and other crap.

And it’s really grand.

listen:

Oh I really needed this.

Funny thing is, I was telling my wife a while ago that we needed an update for “We Didn’t Start the Fire.” That’s because the fire has gotten so much bigger and brighter since Billy released the original version. And here Fall Out Boy drops. And not only did they keep us updated, they also gave us straight bangers.

No kidding, ever since I started writing this blog, I’ve flipped back and forth between the Billy Joel version and the Fall Out Boy version. Because my girlfriend’s 3 year old asks me to repeat it over and over again. She can’t get enough. that! And can you blame her? Who doesn’t like “We Didn’t Start the Fire”? And how could you not like Fall Out Boy’s version?

I just wish Fall Out Boy was a little more political, which is why Billy Joel’s version was so poignant, but at the same time, why Fall Out Boy? I can understand why Boy’ is limited in today’s sensitive world.

I was never a Fall Out Boy fan, but I have to give them credit… they gave the culture what we needed. (Related: Zion Williamson’s porn star ex-boyfriend Moria Mills releases song about their relationship (and it’s a hell of a banger)

Thank you Fall Out Boy. thank you.
