YUMA, Arizona (KYMA, KECY-TV) – The first day of May starts with slightly cooler temperatures than this weekend.

A system of lows is on the California coast and will bring more winds this week.

Several weather warnings have been issued for our area due to dry and strong winds.
A Wind Advisory for strong westerly winds is in effect for Imperial Valley through 11pm tonight and a Red Flag Warning is in effect for parts of Yuma County until 8pm tonight.
The South Coast AQMD has issued an Air Quality Alert for Imperial County through 1:00 am Tuesday due to increased particulate matter from dust spray.
Temperatures will gradually cool over the course of the week, with highs starting to rise closer to the seasonal average later this weekend and early next week.
Flood warning extended through 5:00 p.m. Sunday, May 7. This is because the water from the Painted Rock Dam continues to flow through Yuma County and down the Gila River.
