YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY-TV) – The dry weather system moved to California today,
Refreshing winds will blow across the region on Thursday afternoon through early evening.
A wind advisory is in effect tonight through 11pm due to high winds including Imperial Valley and El Centro.
A wind advisory will be in place for the southwestern corner of Imperial County, which includes Ocotillo, through early Friday morning.
Wind gusts are expected to reach 35 mph in the Yuma County area, and in Imperial County the winds will be stronger, with gusts of 45 to 55 mph.
Winds will linger until early Friday morning, then calm down in the afternoon.
The Imperial County APCD issued an air quality warning through tonight due to an increase in particulate matter from blowing dust.
A stronger anticyclone is expected to move partly into the region from Sunday into next week, bringing warmer temperatures.
Temperatures are expected to rise slightly above normal next week, with highs nearing 110 degrees Celsius by the end of next week.
