YUMA, Arizona (KYMA, KECY-TV) – A strong but generally dry storm is expected to move up the coast of Southern California Monday through Tuesday, resulting in strong winds across the region.
Wind advisories are in effect for parts of western Imperial County, including the Imperial Valley and El Centro, until midnight.
Winds blow from the west in Imperial County, so expect gusts of up to 45 to 55 mph.
Wind gusts of up to 20 to 35 mph are expected in the Yuma County area as winds continue to blow from the south-southwest.
Winds will pick up on Monday afternoon and evening and Tuesday.
There is a high possibility that dust will be blown by strong winds, and it may be dangerous while driving, so please drive safely when dust is blown.
Warmer-than-normal temperatures are expected across the region at the beginning of the week, followed by a trend of cooler-than-normal temperatures for just over seven days.
A continuous discharge from the Painted Rock Dam continues down the Gila River through Yuma County.
Flood warnings are in effect through at least June 6 along the Gila River between the Painted Rock Dam and the Colorado River.
