Weather Alert: Strong winds continue through today

Yuma, Arizona (KYMA, KECY-TV) – Very gusty and dusty conditions today with high wind warnings still in effect.

The Gale Advisory remains in effect for both Yuma and Imperial counties for strong westerly winds with 25-35 MPH gusts of 50 MPH until 5:00 PM MST.

There are areas in the Strong where dust is blown which can be dangerous while driving and can be a health risk.

The Imperial County APCD has extended an air quality warning through today due to increased particulate matter from dust spray. Air Quality.

The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) today issued a PM-10 High Pollution Advisory for the Yuma area.

Winds will start to ease later tonight, but light to strong wind conditions will still persist in some areas.

Let’s take a look at the expected gusts late Wednesday night.

Over tomorrow, showers are likely to increase in our area, and snow is possible in higher elevations and mountainous areas.

Showers are possible in the Imperial Valley after 11 AM, and 2-4 PM is when Yuma can experience the showers.

Another strong storm system later in the weekend brings a chance of showers and cooler temperatures early next week.
