What the What? Did Loveland High School Teachers Really Bail on Students?

It’s one of those stories you hear and ask yourself, “Is that really true?” Was this a coordinated exit? Why quit when there are still students in school? Like a “pop quiz”, there are a lot of questions.

There is no doubt that students, teachers, staff and administrators are feeling stressed, especially after the shootings in Nashville. Is that enough of an excuse for how all of the following have failed?

For me, who attended Loveland High School in the 80’s but is not the parent of children who go to school today, it’s hard to know how to look at this. It didn’t make sense. This may be common, but I just don’t know.

On Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at 8:00 a.m., Safe2Tell informed us that there would be a shooting at Loveland High School that day. Loveland Police determined that the information was unreliable, but the school canceled at 10:00 am that day.

It was after that that the word came out A dozen teachers at the school left before classes were canceled.

I’m in favor of “let’s get out of here” if it poses a threat to any school, but if there are still students in the school, it seems to me that teachers should first confirm the safety of the students.

I can’t imagine passing a teacher on my way out the door and advising me to go home, as it actually happened. But why don’t we go around the school and advise all the students? What’s going on, the students were told they were “in the dark.” very strange.

When I heard that students at Lucille Irwin Middle School may have been informed of what happened at Loveland High School before they (and their parents) did, I wondered how the students’ parents reacted. I can only imagine how frustrated you are.

My LHS daughter got a text from her brother at Elwyn Middle School asking what was going on before she heard from TSD. Luckily she wasn’t there until late in the afternoon as she had no classes. Why would an eighth grader on the other side of town find out before the high school students? It appears that major communications have been lost.

Fox31 Denver Report Schools and school districts are working on policy changes when it comes to things like this.

It still makes me wonder what the deal was. Did all these 14 of her teachers arrange retirement and how many teachers were left at the school after its 14 left? they felt?

On the afternoon of Friday, March 31, the principal of Loveland High School on leave for all the chaos that happened that day.
