An unsuspecting “Wheel of Fortune” contestant got the surprise of his life when he solved a puzzle that led to a real-life marriage proposal.
Hosts Ryan Seacrest and Vanna White welcomed previous contestant Leah Mathews back to the show on January 9th. Matthews thought she was taking part in the ongoing 50th anniversary celebration, but unbeknownst to her, everyone was caught in the middle of a big surprise that would change her life. Her boyfriend Robin reached out to help set up the impromptu engagement, and the shocking scene was all caught on camera.
“We’re celebrating a milestone for our 50th anniversary, and a milestone actually happened earlier in the week here on set,” Seacrest said in a clip shared on YouTube on Jan. 9. said.
The video showed Matthews actively working on the game, completely unaware that the puzzle she was about to solve was designed specifically for her.
She successfully solved the puzzle “Will you marry me?” After being applauded for her correct response, Robin entered the set and walked toward her soon-to-be fiancé.
Matthews looked visibly shocked as he began to realize what was happening on set.
Robin got down on one knee and officially proposed in a heartwarming and unforgettable moment.
“I think she was really surprised,” Seacrest said.
The program revealed the special moment on its official Instagram account.
“This sweet wheel proposal made me scream, cry, and lose my mind! [Loudly-crying-face emoji] #proposalvideo #wheelofffortune,” they wrote.
