When Science and Art Collide

Sedona News – Join the Sedona Camera Club and enjoy a presentation by professional photographer/videographer Dano Grayson. Meeting begins at 6:00 PM on Monday, January 27, 2025 at Christ Lutheran Church, 25 Chapel Road, Sedona. Doors open at 5:30.

Dano (Daniel) Grayson’s When Science and Art Collide is a comprehensive presentation of the use of scientific methods and photography to catalog animal behavior seen near and far. Dano has been a lifelong lover of nature and has worked on projects for the Peruvian government, the San Diego Zoo, the USGS, the BBC, National Geographic, and more. He has been granted access to some of the wildest places in the world. The photographs that Dano will display during this presentation are a catalog of adventure travel and science. He wants to use non-invasive photography techniques to show the world the beauty of biodiversity.

Gazing from the Dark – A male ocelot in the Peruvian Amazon wanders in the dark in search of prey.

Dano invented gear and developed a way to capture unique moments in nature. His presentations encapsulate method, gear, wildlife, and adventure.

Grayson has spent his life pursuing his childhood dream of wildlife adventure. Always a dreamer, Dano took a less conventional path, choosing the scenic route (as he calls it) and becoming a wildlife photographer. Over the past 20 years, he traveled extensively as a wildlife researcher, eventually trading in his calipers for a camera and focusing on capturing the science he was studying. His work has been published around the world and featured by prestigious organizations such as National Geographic, the BBC, Netflix, and Disney.

When he’s not exploring the rainforest, Dano owns and operates a wildlife photography site in southern Arizona designed to make it easy to capture photos of the stunning desert beauty and biodiversity. I am.
