Whoopi Goldberg Critiques Obama on Democratic Strategy
During a recent episode of “The View,” co-host Whoopi Goldberg expressed her frustration with former President Barack Obama. She reacted to his remarks urging Democrats to “strengthen” their stance against President Donald Trump. Instead of directly confronting Trump’s policies during a private donor event, Obama called out the party for what he described as “whining” about the former president.
Goldberg seemed especially upset, noting that Obama and billionaire Mark Cuban, both critical of the Democratic Party’s response, are misdirecting their criticism. “Let me remind everyone who was on the front line during major protests,” Goldberg pointed out. “These were people who didn’t just sulk; they were asking, ‘Why are you touching my social security?’ It was about real concerns, not just whining.” She emphasized that Obama and Cuban are, in her view, focusing their criticism on the wrong individuals.
Goldberg highlighted the ongoing activism among Americans, particularly referencing protests that were widespread across the country on June 14th. Co-host Ana Navarro added that the narrative around Trump allegedly deporting children of American citizens is misleading, as many of those children came with undocumented parents.
“Yeah, people say Trump is terrible, and sometimes it feels good just to say that,” Navarro remarked.
According to reports, Obama conveyed his surprise at the Democrats’ inaction and threats about certain issues. He suggested that the party needs to be more proactive, stating, “It’s going to require Democrats just to strengthen.” He reflected on the lack of support he noticed among progressives during his presidency.
Co-host Sarah Haines then shifted the conversation, criticizing the Democrats for not having comprehensive plans to address immigration issues, focusing instead on protests against ICE operations. She pointed out that recent protests, which turned violent, were triggered by an ICE raid on a marijuana farm in California, during which more than 500 people clashed with law enforcement.
“It’s time for Democrats to propose a real plan that goes beyond just opposing ICE and sanctuary cities,” Haines asserted, suggesting that voters are looking for practical solutions that aren’t currently being offered.
Reports indicated that chaos ensued in Los Angeles, where protesters threw objects at the police during these confrontations, following news of ICE arrests targeting serious criminals, including those involved in trafficking and assault.
