Whoopi Goldberg spoke out about Barbie actress Margot Robbie and director Greta Gerwin's Oscar disdain, and you may be shocked by what she said.
Goldberg told The View audience Wednesday that he didn't think this was meant as disrespect at all. “Here's the deal. Not everyone wins!” she yelled. “You can't get everything you want.”
Sunny Hostin fired back, claiming the omission was disrespectful, but Whoopi stood her ground, saying, “Not everyone wins.”
Alyssa Farrah Griffin weighed in, saying, “Barbie made over $1 billion at the box office.” She said, “Studios, if you want to make blockbusters, hire more female directors.''
“We want to see these things because we're half the population,” Alyssa continued. “Also, did they miss the whole moral of the Barbie story? Of course, we only celebrate Ken, not its leading man or the woman who is the icon.”
As soon as the word “contempt” was thrown around, Goldberg made his position on the issue clear.
“Well, but they're not cynical. That's the point I want to make,” Goldberg said.
“It's not the elites who vote on the Best Picture nominations, it's the entire Academy Awards family. Folks, we vote on the Best Picture nominations,” she said.

“I'm not going to be snubbed,” Goldberg continued. “What you have to keep in mind is that not everyone gets an award and it's subjective. Movies are subjective.”
For those who don't understand her perspective on the subject, Goldberg had one more scathing line. “The movie you love may not be loved by the people you're voting for.” (Related article: Hillary Clinton compares Oscar 'Barbie' snub to her own defeat in 2016)
Robbie and Gerwig were left out of this year's Oscar nominations for Best Actress and Best Director, respectively, sparking immediate backlash from fans, Barbie cast members, and Hollywood stars.
