Tuesday was primary election day in Yuma County and in Arizona.
Turnout was disappointingly low, with only about 17% of eligible voters countywide. Of course, the results are not final.
If a candidate receives 50 percent plus one vote, he or she automatically wins a seat. No candidate has yet won that seat.
All results are current as of Wednesday afternoon.
In Yuma, there are five candidates competing for three seats. Former City Council Member Karen Watts is leading the way with about 26% of the vote, followed by Council Members Chris Morris with 23% and Mark Martinez with 19%. Martin Garcia has 16.3% and Brannick Harris has 16.18% of the vote.
In San Luis, nine candidates are running for three open seats. Lizeth Serbin is leading the race with 13.75% of the votes. Next is Councilman Luis Cabrera with 13.27% and Reuben Walsh with 12.39%. After him are Councilman James Allen Jr. with 11.97%, Jorge Villicana with 11.25%, Joe Diaz with 10.95%, Esteban Rosales with 10.89%, Antonio Carrillo with about 9% and Jermy Rodriguez with 6.66%.
In Summerton, City Council Member Martha Gonzalez is leading with about 29 percent of the vote, followed by Council Members Luis Galindo with 27 percent and Jesus Roldan with 26 percent. Challenger Victor Lozano is getting about 18 percent of the vote. There are three open seats.

In Welton, Ralph Davidson led the way with about 28 percent of the vote, followed by City Councilman Michelle Jones with 23 percent, Larry Killman with 19 percent, Jim Sampson with 18 percent and Greg Attaway with 12 percent.
