‘Why Are Black Men Being Lectured?’: CNN Panelist Says Obama ‘Is Wrong’ With Campaign Speech

Former Democratic state senator Nina Turner of Ohio criticized former President Barack Obama on Thursday night for lecturing a black man during Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign event.

Speaking at his Pittsburgh-area campaign office, President Obama called on black men to support Harris. Turner said Obama was “wrong” to “single out” certain voters. (Related: ‘Warning signs are coming’: FOX News host, pollster reveal data showing Harris’ hemorrhaging among Hispanic supporters)

“Why are black men being lectured? Why are black men being disrespected more than any other voting group?” Turner said in a interview moderated by “CNN Newsnight” host Abby Phillippe. He spoke at a panel discussion. “There’s a lot of love for former President Obama, but it’s wrong for him to single out only black men. Some black men I’ve talked to have reasons for wanting to vote differently. Some of us may not like it, but we have to respect it.”

“So unless President Barack Obama is going to preach to all men from other identity groups, my message to the Democratic Party is to take it to black men, who generally vote not much differently than black women. “Please don’t,” Turner continued.

According to CNN, Trump received 12% support from black voters in 2020. exit poll. including some polls CBS News and fox newsshows that Trump has a demographic advantage heading into the 2024 election.
