‘Why Aren’t We Taking Action?’: Harris Faulkner Calls for a Unified Effort for Clarity on Trump’s Assassination Attempt

Fox News Host Calls for Bipartisan Investigation Into Trump Rally Incident

On Thursday, Fox News host Harris Faulkner appeared on “Kudlow” on Fox Business, urging a bipartisan effort to uncover the details surrounding an incident at a Trump rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

During the rally on July 13, 2024, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks attempted to assassinate Trump while addressing supporters. Faulkner raised questions to host Larry Kudlow about the lack of ongoing coverage of this event, noting the scarcity of information concerning the shooter and his motives.

She posed a pointed question about former U.S. Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle: “Do you remember her? Why has there been so little accountability? When that kind of thing happens, where should we be looking for answers?” Faulkner seemed frustrated by the lack of reporting on the security failures that led to the attack.

“I don’t know what her thought process was,” Faulkner continued. “But Sen. Marsha Blackburn and others tried to get answers. We should keep asking, and it needs to be a bipartisan approach. We shouldn’t just ignore it.”

Reports indicated that six U.S. Secret Service agents have faced suspension tied to failures during the Butler Rally. These suspensions, announced in recent months, reportedly allow the agents to challenge penalties ranging from 10 to 42 days.

At the July 2024 event, Crooks managed to fire several rounds into the crowd, missing Trump by inches and injuring attendees, which ultimately resulted in the death of former volunteer fire chief Corey Comperatore. According to the Wall Street Journal, prior to the assassination attempt, Crooks had operated a drone over the rally site, capturing hours of preparation.

Following the attack, lawmakers expressed concerns over Cheatle’s leadership, leading to a bipartisan inquiry about the substantial security breach. Subsequently, Cheatle announced her resignation from the Secret Service, taking full responsibility for the security failures in an email to her staff.

Approximately nine weeks after Crooks’ attempt on Trump’s life, another suspect, 58-year-old Ryan Wesley Rouse, was arrested on allegations of conspiring to assassinate Trump at the Trump International Golf Course in West Palm Beach, Florida.
