Wildflower Walk – Session 2 (Registration Required, Limit 20 participants) – Plants – Events

Ranger Nikki will lead you on an easy to moderate terrain 1.5-mile walk to learn about common spring wildflowers and flowering shrubs. Possible sightings include fiddleneck, poppies, lupine, scorpionweed, brittlebush, globemallow and more! You can also learn how to document your findings on the citizen science app, iNaturalist. The route follows Merkle barrier-free loop trail and a portion of nearby Blevins trail. The trail surface ranges from smooth and level to rocky and uneven. Wear closed-toe shoes and bring snacks and plenty of water. Bring a camera and notebook to log your observations. This walk has two sessions: 8:00-10:00am and 10:30am-12:30pm. Please indicate your session preference when registering. Restrooms and water are available at the Trailhead.


MEETING LOCATION: Area 6, Merkle trailhead North


Limit 20 participants. To register, please call the Usery Nature Center at (602) 506-2930 ext. 4 with the Session number, your name, phone number and number attending. If you find you cannot attend a program after you have registered, please call the Nature Center ASAP so we may contact those on the waiting list. Registration for this program will close on Thursday, March 21.
