Williams Elementary School announces April Students of the Month | Williams-Grand Canyon News

WILLIAMS, Arizona — Williams Elementary and Middle School recently announced its April Student of the Month (SOM). Students are nominated by teachers.

Pre-K SOM is Renata Cardenas-Lopez. Renata’s teachers say she enjoys being in class. She is an avid learner who loves school. Renata has grown a lot this year. She is learning to count her numbers and write her own name. She is also very creative and enjoys painting for her family.

Kindergarten SOM is Hunter Nelson. Hunter has improved a lot since the beginning of the year. Every day he comes to school and does his best. Hunter knows all his letters and sounds, and without the help of his teacher, he learns to pronounce the words himself and write them down in his diary. His coloring is impeccable and his drawings are amazing. Hunter is always happy to help his classmates if necessary, showing them what his good behavior in the hallway looks like. He follows directions and classroom rules every day, with few caveats.

First grade SOM is a Sky Minor. Sky has grown a lot this year. She became her AR master and shopped at her book vending machine. Skye always puts her best effort into what she does and asks questions when needed. She always treats her classmates, her colleagues and staff with respect. She treats everyone kindly and invites them to play together. Skye has become a hopping student at school every day.

Sophomore SOM is Melody Montgomery. Melody is a kind friend. She is kind and respectful. She completes her own work, loves reading and is very responsible. She always does what she needs to do so that she can do what she wants. Melody comes to school ready to learn and she is always doing her best. She participates in class conversations, is enthusiastic about what’s more difficult for her, and maintains her positive attitude even when she’s struggling.She often says she can master math.

Third grade SOM is Tiffani Salazar. Tiffany is now in third grade and she has become very quiet and shy. Throughout her year she has grown and improved her skills. She is now the one who participates in class discussions, asks for help when needed, and sometimes speaks more than necessary.

Our 4th grade SOM is Jahvel Mills. Jahvel is incredibly smart, respectful and responsible. He is a great role model for his peers and is always a keen listener in class. He is a great friend to all and always puts a smile on our faces.Jahvel has a very kind and loving heart and a passion for learning. His teachers can always count on him to be the first to listen.

Our 5th grade SOM is Ashley Gutierrez. Ashley works hard to complete all assignments, asks for help when needed, and even asks and completes assignments for extra credit to improve her grades. Ashley works well on any team she’s asked to work with, is kind to everyone, and puts on an infectious smile when she shows it.

Our 7th grade SOM is Skyler Overman. Skyler challenges his teacher every day, but he does it with humor. He doesn’t take disagreements personally and is a fun and interesting person in class. Skyler’s teachers have great respect and admiration for him.

Our 7th grade SOM is Leah Rivera. Leah is patient and she is kind to other students. She is quiet and she does her job well when she is at work. Leah is fierce, unapologetic, and a very powerful and admirable quality when it comes to expressing her opinions and views. Her teachers love and appreciate her honesty and her ability to express her many things. She has such a great sense of humor.
