Willie Brown Joins Dem Mayors In Urging Probe Into Their Own Party’s Mayoral Candidate

Vice President Kamala Harris’ ex-boyfriend and former Democratic San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown joined other Democratic mayors on Monday in urging an investigation into Mark Farrell, one of the party’s mayoral candidates.

The letter also includes former city attorney Louise Rennes, former Democratic state senator Mark Leno, former judge Quentin Kopp, former supervisor Angela Alioto, former assistant district attorney and current criminal defense attorney Randy Knox and veteran Bay Area attorney John Keker also signed the petition.

The former mayor and six other state and city officials who signed the letter used the state’s Ballot Measure D to circumvent the $500 cap on individual contributions to help Farrell’s campaign cover campaign costs. claims to have done so.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports that the letter alleges that Farrell’s campaign committee “subsidized 40 percent of his salary and approximately half of his rent” for his mayoral campaign in the name of “shared” expenses. San Francisco has struggled with homelessness, drugs, and crime for years, but the problem has escalated under Mayor London Breed’s leadership since 2018.
