Wind, snow results in no travel on Mount Graham

SAFFORD — Bad weather has stopped movement on Mount Graham.

On social media, the Safford Ranger District of the Coronado National Forest announced that they are not advising trips to the mountains on Wednesday and Thursday due to the forecast of heavy snow and high winds.

The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory for Graham County with gusts of up to 55 mph.

Snow cover is forecast to reach 12 to 18 inches at the higher elevations of Mount Graham, and snow is likely at 3,000 feet.

Rain and winds are expected to continue Wednesday night through Thursday morning, with gradual clearing in the afternoon.
