WNBA’s Angel Reese Suffers Season-Ending Injury

Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) superstar Angel Reese announced on social media Saturday night that she will miss the remainder of the season due to an injury.

Reese's team, the Chicago Sky, confirmed that Reese's season-ending injury was to his wrist. According to To NBC News.

“What a year it has been. I never expected the last bucket of my rookie season to be a 3-pointer but maybe it was God giving me a taste of what I would see more of in year 2 lol,” Reese wrote. “I proved I belonged in this league even when no one else did.”

“All I've ever wanted was to go out there and make an impact and I can confidently say I've achieved that and will strive to continue to do so. I'm filled with emotion after suffering this season-ending injury but at the same time, gratitude for what's to come. Although it's God's timing and not my timing, I'm finally able to get some physical and mental rest. “God gives the toughest battles to his strongest warriors,” Reese continued.

“You can continue to look to me to be your biggest cheerleader on the sidelines! And see you soon Unrivaled League!” Reese wrote.

Reese finished the season averaging 13.6 points and 13.1 rebounds, which the outlet noted were the highest rebounding averages in WNBA history. Earlier in the season, Reese broke a league record by recording 15 consecutive double-doubles. Reese has totaled 446 rebounds this year, surpassing Sylvia Fowles' previous record of 404 rebounds. Reese was the seventh pick in the draft, according to the outlet. Reese is known for her rivalry with Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark, who famously faced off against her in the NCAA Championship two years ago. Since then, the matchups between the two have boosted WNBA television ratings, merchandise sales and attendance.

According to NBC News, the Chicago Sky are currently tied with the Atlanta Dream for eighth place in the WNBA's final playoff spot.

According to the media report, Reese is scheduled to play in the 3-on-3 league “Unrivaled,” which is starting for the first time in Miami this winter.
