A woman threw metal pipes and bottles at police officers from a rooftop in the South Park neighborhood of South Los Angeles, Calif., on Thursday night, according to local reports.
About 11:30 p.m. Thursday, Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) officers responded to a call to a shooting in a smoking area near the intersection of East 51st Street and Avalon Boulevard when a woman was seen by officers. and started throwing metal pipes and glass bottles at the patrol. A car came from the top of a three-story apartment building, according to KTLA.
Police officers sent out a distress call for crisis assistance and more troops arrived to help arrest the woman, the newspaper said. She was arrested without incident about 30 minutes later. Woman refused to identify herself and did not cooperate with investigators, ABC7 report. Some people detained in connection with the shooting have been released, but the investigation into the shooting is still ongoing, the newspaper said.
LAPD officers were involved in a similar incident in mid-June. After receiving a late-night call that a man was on the rooftop of a metropolitan bus in Venice, police officers tried to talk to him, but he fled. He began throwing wood at the officers, descending and rejecting their calls for help. according to Los Angeles Police Department statement. In early June, officers reportedly received additional calls regarding a man on the rooftop, who was taken to a local hospital for examination.
