Woman falls over ‘dangerous’ 20-foot Arizona park cliff to death

A mother of four died Monday after falling off a 20-foot cliff while visiting a favorite spot in an Arizona national park.

Jennifer Petri, 44, fell off a steep ledge while hiking with friends in Coconino National Forest near Sedona around 4pm. The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office said:

A friend told officers that Petri was “no longer” visible and had fallen in an area known to locals as “The Bluffs”, located about 200 feet above West Clear Creek.

The USDA Forest Service describes the site as “steep,” “deep,” and “rocky,” and officials warn hikers: “The ambulance is far away.” from the canyon.

The “treacherous” terrain proved difficult for rescuers trying to locate Petri, with YCSO agents using binoculars to locate an injured woman who had landed at the foot of a cliff just above the water’s edge. was required.

By the time rescuers arrived in Petri, she was already dead. She was airlifted from the canyon.

How Petri fell off the cliff is still under investigation.

A YCSO spokesperson was unable to tell The Post if foul play may have been the cause.

Family friend Danae Wolfe told 12 News Petri was an avid outdoor enthusiast and spent every Sunday at the Creek with her family.

“Jennifer, she’s goofy, funny and adventurous. Had the most contagious smile,” Wolfe of the outlet said.

“She was everyone’s friend. She had so much compassion and empathy for people, and that’s something I really admired.”

A beloved waitstaff at Camp Verde Denny’s, Petri leaves behind a husband and four sons.

“I want you to remember her compassion and the wonderful mother she used to be,” Wolfe said. “She was the glue that held the family together.”
